Objectives of the Course
|
The objectives of this course are: Understanding the working principles and thermodynamic cycles (Otto and Diesel) of spark ignition (SI) and compression ignition (CI) engines. Identifying key engine components and explaining their functions in overall engine operation. Explaining engine subsystems including cooling, exhaust, turbocharging, lubrication, and fuel systems.

The course covers the following topics: Introduction to internal combustion engines. Thermodynamics cycles of Otto and Diesel Cycles. Major Engine Components and Mechanisms. Cooling Systems of Engines. Lubrication (Oiling) Systems. Fuel Systems (SI and CI). Exhaust and Turbocharging Systems. Engine Performance Parameters and Efficiency.
