Objectives of the Course The aim of this course is to enhance the academic Turkish proficiency of international undergraduate students to the B1-B2 level. It aims to improve their ability to read, understand, and interpret academic and scientific texts, as well as to express themselves accurately and effectively in both spoken and written academic contexts. The course is designed in accordance with the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and focuses on analytical and practical language skills.
Course Content Within the scope of this course, by conducting analytical and practical studies in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference standards for international students at the undergraduate level, students' academic Turkish level will be increased at the B1-B2 level, their ability to read and interpret academic and scientific texts will be improved, and their ability to express themselves both orally and in writing in the academic field will be contributed.
Course Methods and Techniques Learners will be provided with as much opportunities of hands-on practice as possible with the aim of striking a balance between learner-centeredness and sufficient guidance. Various forms of interaction (i.e. pair work and group work) will also be encouraged to cater for learners with different learning styles. Additionally, individuals will be expected to produce both in-class writings and homework assignments in addition to the reading tasks, which will encourage them to reflect and think critically. Technology will also be incorporated into the classroom procedures in order to create a better learning environment.
