Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to introduce students the concepts and the use the knowledge of materials structure in the design and manufacturing field. The students acquaint with the knowledge and skills in understanding failure characteristic, better design criterion for materials with microscopy studies.
Course Content
This course provides students with the opportunity to develop and demonstrate an understanding of the basic procedures used in the microstructural process. Topics covered include fracture, surface morphology, stress, deflection and stiffness, theories of failure for ductile and brittle materials, fatigue design and introduction to the microstructure of materials.
