Course Content The course investigates architectural design strategies for disaster-resilient housing in both urban and rural contexts, focusing on four key contemporary approaches: sustainable site-specific design for high-risk zones, adaptive reuse of existing structures, emergency shelter solutions, and developer-driven reconstruction. Grounded in the UN SDGs, the course critically examines how housing design intersects with broader challenges like poverty reduction, healthcare access, and climate action. Through advanced theoretical analysis, students will evaluate current governance frameworks and legislation governing post-disaster reconstruction, with particular emphasis on their applicability in vulnerable regions. The curriculum emphasizes doctoral-level research methodologies to assess the efficacy of existing design paradigms and policy interventions in disaster-prone environments.
