Objectives of the Course
Recognizing key concepts related to risk, hazard, exposure, and vulnerability within diverse contexts of the built environment. Analyzing risk scenarios and awareness at both global and national levels. Applying a comprehensive risk assessment for a specific hazard scenario, integrating theoretical knowledge with analytical methods. Adapting resilience strategies to the built environment in risk.

Course Content
This course focuses on raising awareness of the critical issue of risk in built environments, emphasizing the role of risk assessment in contributing to sustainability and resilience. It includes the critique of risk assessment methods developed for specific hazards to identify appropriate tools and approaches. Students will evaluate selected buildings, building groups, or settlement areas by identifying single or multiple hazards and assessing exposure and vulnerability, using internationally recognized methods referenced in the literature. By the end of the course, students will be able to critically assess risk scenarios and perform context-specific risk evaluations. The course will conclude with a discussion on resilience as a forward-looking perspective for risk reduction.
