Objectives of the Course Understanding the fundamental concepts and principles of macroeconomics.
Analyzing the causes and effects of unemployment and inflation through the use of relevant statistical data.
Comparing different economic growth theories in terms of their assumptions and implications.
Evaluating the effectiveness of monetary and fiscal policy tools in addressing macroeconomic issues.
Course Content This course is designed to examine how economies function in combination and the basic relationships that motivate economists’ understanding of what drives macroeconomic variable and how government policy may impact on this context. Topics such as economic growth, tools of monetary, and fiscal policy, major economic institutions, evaluation of economic analysis, functioning of markets will be discussed. Problems of unemployment, inflation will also be stressed throughout the course.
Course Methods and Techniques The teaching methodology emphasizes a blend of discussion, empirical data analysis, and problem-solving activities. Classes will engage students in critical discussions on macroeconomic theories and policies, encouraging active participation and diverse viewpoints. We will incorporate real-world empirical data, utilizing case studies and current economic indicators to analyze and interpret economic trends and policy impacts. Problem-solving sessions will challenge students to apply macroeconomic concepts to address real-life economic issues, fostering practical skills in economic analysis and decision-making. This approach aims to equip students with a deep understanding of macroeconomic principles and their application in navigating complex economic scenarios.
