Objectives of the Course Understanding the historical, theoretical, and practical significance of urban design competitions in shaping cities.

Course Content This course explores the culture, process, and significance of urban design competitions as a means of shaping contemporary cities. Through case studies, lectures, and studio-based exercises, students will engage with real and hypothetical competition briefs to understand how urban design ideas are developed, communicated, and evaluated within competitive frameworks. The course will also address the role of competitions in public policy, architectural discourse, and professional practice.
