Objectives of the Course

(1) To introduce the high voltage types, measurement techniques and generation techniques.
(2) To introduce the electrostatic fields and their analysis on electrode systems.
(3) To introduce the electrical discharges and related losses.
(4) To introduce the nondestructive test techniques

Course Content
|
This course intends to teach the students the high voltage phenomena. The course introduces the high voltage generation and measurement techniques, electrostatic field theory, high voltage cable properties and sizing, electrical discharges, losses, and their measurements. The role of insulation materials and insulation breakdown mechanisms are introduced. Stress control methods for satisfactory operation of power systems are discussed.
