Objectives of the Course Know about the natural products as drugs and their biosynthesis
Learn various natural product discovery strategies
Develop a strategy for the discovery/biosynthesis of natural products as a team.
Course Content In this course, the natural products discovery and their biosynthesis will be introduced. It covers various natural products discovery strategies including genome mining, strain engineering, combinatorial biosynthesis, metagenomics, co-cultivation, cell-free systems and traditional approach. It also provides a brief introduction to drug development process. Students are expected to have a term project regarding the discovery and/or biosynthesis of novel natural products.
