Course Content
|
Description Deep excavations in soil to enable the construction of underground structures are complicated due to the variable types of ground and groundwater that they may encounter. This course aims describing the fundamentals of deeps excavations, planning, design, and the applications of construction methodologies. The course content includes types of retaining walls, water pressure acting on earth retaining systems and related problems, lateral earth pressure acting on earth retaining systems, lateral supporting elements: Ground anchors, struts, soil nails, piles, etc. The course aligns with doctorate level studies by offering an in-depth understanding of the planning, design, and construction methodologies for deep excavations, focusing on advanced topics such as retaining systems, lateral support elements, and groundwater management to address complex geotechnical challenges.
