Objectives of the Course Providing to students the fundamental knowledge about the different types, hydraulic and mechanical properties, and civil engineering applications of Geosynthetics.

Discovering how to design using geosynthetics, for a variety of civil engineering applications such as reinforcement, separation, filtration, drainage, and liquid containment, providing sufficient information about common problems.

Analyzing the description of several case histories and practical aspects of geosynthetics.
Course Content This course includes basic information on geosynthetics, including definitions, classification, historical development, functions and selections. Also, it contains the description of geosynthetics, geotextile functions, properties and test methods, road applications, filtration, drainage and erosion control applications, soil reinforcement applications and geomembranes. The course aligns with doctorate level studies by providing foundational knowledge and practical applications of geosynthetics, enabling students to explore their advanced functions in soil reinforcement, drainage, and erosion control for innovative geotechnical solutions.
