Understanding the economic structure and development of the Ottoman Empire in the context of global economic changes. Examining the dynamics of the Ottoman economy across different periods and its connections with the world economy. Assessing the significance and roles of economic institutions, such as public finance, industry, foreign trade, population dynamics, and agricultural production, during the transformation process. Investigating the interrelations among economic institutions and their impact on economic development and change in the Ottoman Empire.

Course Content
|
This course aims to examine the economic structure and development of the Ottoman Empire in a chronological manner, parallel to simultaneous developments in global economic history. The dynamics of the Ottoman economy during different periods, its connections with the world economy, and the impact of global economic changes on the Ottoman Empire will be analyzed. Alongside this chronological approach, the course will focus on the significance and role of economic institutions such as the state's involvement in the economy, public finance, industry, foreign trade, population dynamics, and agricultural production during this transformation process. In this context, the interrelations among these institutions, as well as their impact on economic development and change across different periods of the Ottoman Empire, will be thoroughly addressed.
