Objectives of the Course 1- Introduce the major processes in the central dogma of molecular biology
2- Help students to develop the knowledge and skills to understand molecular biology
3- Teach basic molecular biology experiments to pursue further studies in the molecular biology.
4- Read and interpret scientific papers that utilize molecular biology technologies
Course Content The aim of this course is to introduce the major processes in the central dogma of molecular biology and help students to develop the knowledge and practical skills to pursue further studies in the molecular biology. In laboratory hours, the students will design and conduct and report basic molecular biology experiments.
Course Methods and Techniques Various forms of interaction (i.e. pair work and group work) will also be encouraged to cater for learners with different learning styles. Additionally, individuals will be expected to produce written homework assignments in addition to the reading tasks, which will encourage them to reflect and think critically.
This course offers student-centered learning, so students must join actively in class discussions. By actively participating in the class discussions, they can sharpen their insights, and those of their classmates.
