Course Content
|
This course provides an overview of major works of social thought from the beginning of the modern era through the 1970s. The course is intended to help the Architecture grad students to develop a thorough familiarity with the contemporary modern thinking. The aim is to discuss some of the cons and pros of modern thinking around certain thematic. Attention is paid to social and intellectual contexts, conceptual frameworks and methods, and contributions to contemporary social analysis. Writers include Marx, Nietzsche, Freud, Weber, Durkheim, Husserl, Derrida, Barthes, Lacan, Foucault, Bourdieu, Baudrillard, and Zizek.
