Objectives of the Course Conceptualizing the urban society
Identifying and analyzing the role of the state in relation to formation of urban space
Identifying and evaluating the social theories in relation to urban space
Examining and discussing the role of the politics, social relationships and economy in urban production
Course Content This lecture focuses on theoretical concepts in relation to contemporary Urban issues. Social, economic and political changes of the recent century will be discussed in relation to spatial effects in the urban areas. The last 2 weeks of the module will focus on the urbanization process in Turkey in relation to the theoretical concepts has been discussed during the module.
