Course Delivery Method Face To Face
Objectives of the Course Recognizing the architectural artifact as a research challenge.
Interpreting tangible and intangible values.
Arguing the role of local dynamics and global effects on urban development.
Executing different scales of design.
Developing architectural research by examining space and place.
Course Content Studio 2 deals with an advanced design challenge to criticize existing urban patterns and develop interdisciplinary approaches for its spatial transformation from a global perspective. Studio 2 tackles the city as a built environment and seeks a new spatial design challenge to reconsider its social and physical aspects in a global context. It aims to (re)produce the space and architectural artifact to explore its contradictions in daily life in an interdisciplinary context. Therefore, Studio 2 will focus on the theme “Reforming Talas” through the parameters and future projections developed in Studio 1.

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
NoLearning Outcomes
1 To develop research in design by using local problems as a reference for global issues.
2 To identify the social and physical aspects of the urban form and the existing buildings and consider them as a research input.
3 To discuss the interactions of society and urban fabric.
4 To examine the formation of an architectural artifact through material/structure and space interactions.
5 To develop alternative ways of thinking in terms of research by design.
6 To formulate the design problem and communicate the idea using different means of expression.
