Objectives of the Course Explaining the nature of architectural research and research design.
Discussing the frontiers of the architectural research.
Criticizing the literature review through a variety of sources.
Identifying research methods based on the research design.
Course Content The course mainly focuses on “Research Design” in architectural research. The nature and philosophy of research, the phases of research design, types of research methods including data collection and analysis processes, the representation of the research findings, and ethics in research are discussed in detail through in-class practices, readings, and discussions. The students propose a research design throughout the semester following the weekly activities and assignments, depending on their indented field of study.
