Objectives of the Course Explaining the nature of architectural research and research design.
Discussing the frontiers of the architectural research.
Analyzing the literature through a variety of sources.
Identifying research methods based on the research design.
Course Content The course mainly focuses on “Research Design” in architectural research. The nature and philosophy of research, the phases of research design, types of research methods including data collection and analysis processes, the representation of the research findings, and ethics in research are discussed in detail through lectures, discussions, readings, and in-class research design practices. The students propose a research design following the weekly activities and assignments throughout the semester, depending on their intended field of study.
