Objectives of the Course This course aims to teach briefly the integral part of single/ multi variable(s) Calculus by using Business cases related studies and applications with the help of
- Providing fundamental knowledge and skills to analyze the behavior of a single/multi variable functions in basic aspects via Business applications.
-Constructing theoretical and conceptual understanding of essential mathematical tools to study single/multivariable calculus.
- Developing the ability of using the notions and tools of basic mathematics to recognize and analyze a problem deduced from real life/nature and offering solutions to these problems by applying relevant computation and analysis techniques regarding Business and Management.
Course Content This course is an introduction to single/multi variable and multivariate calculus for Business and Management students and covers the fundamentals of differentiation and integration concepts related to single variable and multivariate calculus. In this context, integrating functions for single and multivariate calculus are being taught with optimization technique like Lagrange Multipliers method also basic Statistical data driven concepts will be coved with the usage of Exel computer applications. By the end of the semester, the students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of a single/multivariate calculus in every aspect of Business and Management fields by using the scientific skills gained during semester.
Course Methods and Techniques This course is mainly designed as face-to-face in-class type of teaching with the help of CANVAS, and for some special cases, for synchronous sessions, Zoom will be used. We will be using various tools for active learning activities.
This is also a student-driven course. It is your responsibility to participate actively in class discussions. You are not graded on whether you agree or disagree with the instructor or with each other. Class participation which will be based on your ability to rise and answer important issues, to contribute ideas or insights, to build upon the ideas of others, ask questions to presenters, etc is very important for your individual development.
By actively participating in the class discussions, you can sharpen your insights, and those of your classmates.
