|
• Become familiar with almost all components of Financial Statements and become aware of potential pitfalls in using them. • Develop ability to use the financial statements to understand and report what has been taking place in the company and what is likely to happen in the future. • By using the tools and techniques learned in this course, the student will be able to identify strengths and weaknesses of the company and suggest possible strategies for the future. • Be aware of the various stakeholders of the company and the type of information that they focus on and find useful. • Learn to calculate the various ratios and other tools of financial statement analysis, but more importantly be able to interpret the information.

Course Content
|
This is a course in the evaluation and analysis of financial statements. It is assumed that the student has a working knowledge of the basic theoretical and practical concepts of financial accounting, corporation finance and economics. The course materials do not dwell on the basics but rather assume your knowledge of them. Our starting point will be a set of financial statements for a company and we will proceed to extract the relevant information about what the company has been doing and attempt to understand the direction it is headed in. This is a course that will have great practical value to individuals from a very wide range of areas.
