Objectives of the Course The aim of this course is to help students
-understand of the need for an interdisciplinary approach to solving sustainability challenges
-understand about the historical foundations of the notion of sustainability -categorize the historical patterns, politics behind some of the core policy challenges and solutions at the global levels.
-analyze various real-world responses to better manage the sustainability challenges.
Course Content In this course we will be learning the concept of sustainability. We evaluate the ideological, social and institutional foundations of sustainability and examine how different disciplines approach to the issues of sustainability. We will particularly focus on social and environmental sustainability by examining some of the core policy issues and concerns in these two areas because these concerns are at the core of international sustainability agendas.
