Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to prepare students
- Understand institutional aspects of project conceptualization and management
- Learn ways to design, implement, monitor, evaluate and mainstream projects,
- Understand the PCM approach and how to use it to design and implement projects,
- Identify and test mainstreaming opportunities,
- Learn how to build a logical framework to link the different stages and put all the main elements into a simple plan
- To design an effective monitoring and evaluation tool to enable them track and report results,
- Understand some best practice techniques for project management

Course Content
|
Project Management is the implementation of relevant skills, knowledge, and tools to achieve the goal set for a project. Project management is divided into 5 main phases, namely- Initiating, Planning, Executing, Performance monitoring and Closing of the project. With an increase in the number of industries, multinational and national projects, project management is gaining increasing importance and demand. Project Management Course is designed to provide students with a practical and academic knowledge of the management method, skill and tool for development projects including and NGO’s projects. We will focus on Project Cycle Management that is one of management methods widely used at the participatory planning, implementing, and monitoring, and evaluating stages of projects. The course introduces visual and written cases and lectures’ experience, which enables students to understand how projects are planned, monitored and evaluated in the local context. Some important concepts in terms of project management such as participatory development, ownership by stakeholders, institutional development, gender issue, environmental aspects, appropriate technology will be discussed. It is an interactive and student-centered course that we expect all students would contribute on discussion based on their knowledge and experiences.
The program intents to teach project cycle management from an international and cross-cultural perspective, and to prepare students as change agents in the society they live in. Therefore, students are expected to develop project and implement in groups for the society they live in.
