The course aims to examine the concept of humanitarian intervention from historical, legal, political, and ethical perspectives. It seeks to equip students with the ability to analyze the relationship between sovereignty, human rights, international law, and intervention. Case studies of past interventions will help students evaluate both the normative and practical dimensions of humanitarian action.

Course Content
|
Humanitarian intervention is one of the permanent components of Cold-war period. It is generally thought with security, human rights and development. In this course, discussions on different meanings and forms of intervention are going to take place; and interventions made by military forces, United Nations and various global actors are going to be covered. Different humanitarian interventions in the last two decades and the discussions based on these are worked by considering historical equals.
