Objectives of the Course The aim of this course is to analyze major conflicts in the Middle East within historical, political, and socio-economic contexts and to discuss the methods used in conflict resolution. It offers students the opportunity to apply conflict resolution theories to real-world Middle Eastern cases.
Course Content In the Middle East, conflicts have become more destructive with technological
developments and globalization. Furthermore, in the post-Cold War era, the
trend of global political conflict shifted direction and the conflicts shifted
intensely from state to state. Again, the conflicts were concentrated in nondemocratic regions of the world. When the world peace basins are analyzed, it
will be observed that democracy and human rights regimes are the biggest
means of peace. This course examines ways of preventing, changing and
resolving national and international conflicts. In this course, students will be
familiar with conflict resolution, management, conflict negotiation techniques
and future conflict prevention principles and methods. This course aims to
prevent national and international conflicts and analyze events.
