Objectives of the Course
|
The aim of this course is to analyze the influence of religion on politics in both historical and contemporary contexts. Students will explore religion–state relations across different countries, with discussions on secularism, religious movements, theocratic systems, and the role of religious values in public policy.

Course Content
|
At the end of this course, students; develop an understanding of the political and social role and function of religion in modern societies based on social and political theories; gain a comparative perspective, gain the level of knowledge and analysis ability to avoid essentialist approaches when discussing the place of religion in modern societies.
