Objectives of the Course Introducing the causes and consequences of different patterns of development.
Providing knowledge on structural features of developing economies.
Introducing development policy and related concepts.
Providing information on the categories of policies that can be applied in different economic settings and how to measure their effects.
Course Content Development economics is taken as an ever-growing field which receives much interest from both state organizations and non-governmental organizations. Taking these two aspects into account, the course is aimed at examining basic and main theories of economic development by relating these to subjects such as development policies and general effects of economic development. Relations between development and growth, trade, business cycles and other economic phenomena are also discussed. In addition, subjects and issues such as inequality and gender issues are examined.
