Objectives of the Course Introducing international financial transactions as well as operational aspects of foreign exchange markets.
Providing basic knowledge to comprehend the foundations of international financial markets.
Introducing concepts of forex market participants, exchange rates determination, international arbitrage, foreign exchange risk and its management, and international capital markets.
Course Content Course is designed as a typical course on international finance which introduces the basic subjects of the area at undergraduate level. Main aim is to introduce international finance as a subdiscipline of economics and to examine related applications in the broader area of economics. The consideration of three significant and connected macroeconomic issues in open economies -exchange rates, capital flows, and financial crises- is given emphasis in the course. The main topics also include: forex markets, international parity conditions, forex risks, currency derivatives and hedging issues, and issues with currency investment strategies.
Course Methods and Techniques This course will utilize methods such as case studies, graph and data analysis, simulations, and group discussions. Students will examine topics like exchange rate determination, international financial transactions, and risk management using real market data and practical exercises. Additionally, discussions on fundamental concepts of international financial markets will focus on how to apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios.

This course aims to introduce international financial transactions and the operational aspects of foreign exchange markets. Students will learn the fundamentals of international financial markets, forex market participants, exchange rate determination mechanisms, and international arbitrage. Additionally, the course provides an understanding of foreign exchange risk and its management, as well as the functioning of international capital markets. It provides a foundation for understanding the global financial system and how risks are managed.
