Objectives of the Course Providing foundational knowledge that is needed to comprehend the function of government in economic and social realms.
Providing knowledge about the characteristics of externalities and public goods as well as their implications on market efficiencies and government activities.
Showing examples of existing theory and evidence regarding the impact of government spending on the private and public sectors.
Course Content Course is based on theories and studies related to public sector which can be characterized as a sector that produces goods and services for social needs and social benefits. Course content includes subjects such as perspectives for fiscal policy, government’s role in economy, characteristics of market economy and public economy, efficiency in market economy, market failures, government intervention in economy, public goods, externalities, size of public economy, decision making and voting models in public economy, characteristics and increasing of public spending, classifications of public spending, and effects of public spending on economy.
