Objectives of the Course
Preparing students for conducting independent research and analysis using empirical methods. Introducing econometric methods that are frequently used in applied microeconomic research. Reviewing standard techniques for cross-sectional analysis and presenting modern approaches.
Course Content
Aim of the course is to analyze basic topics in microeconometrics in detail at undergraduate level. The course content includes standard econometric techniques that are used to examine micro-level data. Example subjects are generalized method of moments (GMM), instrumental variable (IV), two stage least squares (2SLS), discrete choice, and causal effects estimation techniques. Upon completing the course students are expected to be able to identify micro-data, problems that should be analyzed with micro-data and suitable techniques of estimation based on the question and data of interest.
