Objectives of the Course Identifying general and specific psychological knowledge in research of stereotype and prejudice, in particular social and political psychology literature

Recognising the fundamentals of research methodology and how it applies to various contexts of intergroup relations
Course Content This course will examine the current literature in experimental social psychology concerning stereotyping and prejudice. There are four major topics that will be discussed in this course: stereotyping, functions and costs, the formation and maintenance of stereotypes, and stereotype change. A major issue for this course will be the recent research on the influence of cognitive processes on intergroup attitudes.

4 Discuss psychological interventions for helping to reduce stereotype and prejudice and to effectiveness of these interventions
