To raise awareness of urban traffic planning and practices, which are important issues within the urban transportation system, and to create and disseminate a widespread traffic and pedestrian-oriented culture.
Course Content
The course generally covers basic concepts such as urban transportation and road system hierarchy, road flow, road volume through vehicle mobility, while examining pedestrian transportation, pedestrian-vehicle segregation and the relationships and connections of other transportation modes in detail, and includes the presentation of case studies, the introduction of smart, sustainable and innovative transportation systems, and the discussion and presentation of project proposals at the end of the semester, including new arrangements and designs for intersections.
Course Methods and Techniques
The first part of the course is theoretical and the given assignments are discussed and interpreted. In the practical part of the course, visual studies, plans and projects and applications are evaluated by analyzing the solution methods for the design at selected intersections and the relationships between pedestrian mobility and vehicle densities and making presentations with project-based calculations, drawings and simulations to develop and introduce new and sustainable project examples.
