Describing the main parameters and concepts about the concept of culture and cultural heritage and its diverse field of studies. Examining diverse approaches about cultural heritage in different countries. Examining the process of interpretation and preservation of cultural assets considering social, economic and political concerns. Discussing the current political, social and economic issues and their effects on understanding.

Course Content
|
This course is open for all students interested in cultural heritage studies for understanding basic concepts of theories of cultural heritage studies and implementations including expertise of different disciplines. Culture, as a concept, includes many perspectives and field of studies to investigate. Thus, cultural heritage studies require multidisciplinary methodology to understand and interpret the basic concepts and approaches related to the concept of culture and its impact area. This course aims to discuss the concept of ‘culture’ and ‘cultural heritage’ through different disciplines such as architecture, politics, art and history and provide a comprehensive understanding of culture with different concepts such as heritage, memory, cultural conflicts/exchanges, authenticity or politics. Besides, this course has several thematic modules which are responding contemporary discussions and cultural agenda in global context.
