Objectives of the Course
|
This lecture aims to introduce the relationship between civilization and cities.
|

Course Content
|
This course will trace the development and socio-spatial order of cities from the civilization perspective. Within this scope, firstly we will mention the main characteristics of civilizations from the Ancient Period through the present era. Secondly, we will discuss how political, economic, and social institutions of civilizations influenced the structure of urban centers and shaped the built environment in cities across the world. In turn, we will analyze how the structure and design of cities influenced the development of civilizations.
