Objectives of the Course
- Explaining the process of drug design and discovery from target identification to final drug registration. - Presenting target selection, lead discovery using computer-based methods and combinatorial chemistry/high-throughput screening. - Defining safety evaluation, bioavailability, clinical trials. - Giving information about molecular recognition, computer-aided drug design, and toxicology as applied to the development of new medicines
Course Content
This course covers the understanding of the history of drug design and discovery, strategies of development of new drug candidates and the relationship between drug discovery and chemical biology. Topics include enzyme inhibitors-related biostructure and mechanism-based design and the structure, function and the pharmacology of different receptors.
